The Mythic, Tarot & Fairy Tale musings of Lisa Hunt

The finished Duck-Shapeshifter, a messy palette and good news for Ghosts & Spirits Tarot.

| March 27, 2013

The Duck-Shapeshifter is reflective and quiet. It was painted with lachrymose intent enhanced by expressive faces hidden in the elements. I know for myself, sometimes stressful situations actually help fuel the art-making process. It starts when emotions well up inside and provide a zestful energy that is vital for soulful creative output. I think for me, art has been an unwavering friend that helps me keep things in perspective…

Winged Enchantment update, new Shapeshifter Tarot release and gardening in Florida.

| February 15, 2013

Winged Enchantment Oracle update: 23 paintings done, 15 more to go! It’s hard to believe that I signed a contract for Winged Enchantment nearly three years ago. It’s harder still to believe that my first deck Shapeshifter Tarot was published fifteen years ago. Needless to say, I’ve grown from a young, intrepid artist eager to [...]

Seagull-Shapeshifter, Fairy Tale Spreads and our humble, creative life.

| February 1, 2013

Seagull-Shapeshifter was inspired by the birds in my backyard.

After sending everyone off to school/work, I like to open up my day with a cup of coffee and a porch chair. Those precious few minutes between me and the open sky provide the necessary clarity to mentally jot down my to-do list. It’s like my own opening bell–a ringing in of the new day with prospects of an industriousness…

Back from a break, new art, review and what the kids are doin’.

| December 21, 2012

For the first time since I started my blog 5 years ago, I took a month off from posting. I didn’t stop painting, I didn’t stop filling lisahuntart orders, I didn’t stop playing piano and I certainly didn’t stop being mom, family woman and friend. But I did have to prioritize and make sure that what I did have time for I did it well…

The finished Goose-Shapeshifter painting, pelican in progress and nurturing creativity in the home.

| November 9, 2012

“I am the Goose, the mysterious guardian of migrations everywhere. I am the soul who travels. I am the quest within. If you are stagnating today, it may be time to seek warmer pastures. It may be the call to a journey, the same journey that marks the beginning of every great story ever told. I may inspire a road trip, or open your eyes to those wide open spaces on the other side of the fence. But whichever ways I lead you, you will never return home the same.” ~Lesley Morrison…

It was a good drawing week!

| October 18, 2012

After what felt like a slow dance with creative malaise, I rebounded this week and cranked out two drawings. These were ideas that had been simmering in my sketch folder for a while after initial attempts failed to yield satisfactory results.

The finished Dove-Shapeshifter painting, shorter days and autumnal skies

| October 4, 2012

I applied mascoid to the finished drawing (a mask that helps protect the white of the paper) and proceeded with watercolor washes. *********************************************************************************************** Quick update on Ghosts & Spirits Tarot, a deck that is receiving rave reviews by respected professionals and diehard fans (and I’ve been told is selling well too!). Thank you everyone for all [...]

Final Crane-Shapeshifter painting: Be still, you are crane

| September 20, 2012

The finished Crane-Shapeshifter watercolor painting I love birds and I try to absorb their good energy whenever I can. During a walk or jog, I’m inspired by their sights and sounds, quite numerous in this watery region that is checkered with canals and lakes. If I am lucky, I will see a crane. It is an [...]

Ghosts & Spirits Tarot Trailer

| September 7, 2012

Believe it or not, I studied Computer Animation in the 1990s. Back then, it was an adventurous pursuit for the few brave who dared to make it their major in Art School. I was already trained in traditional art, but was fascinated by the prospects of bringing art to animated life.

Goals vs. deadlines, new pencil drawings and why I love to draw hands

| August 23, 2012

It’s catch up time! I’ve been taking things a little more slowly this month, with the kids going back to school, the specter of hurricanes, replenishing art supplies and catching up with paperwork. I also returned to the taekwondo dojo to get my physical mojo back in between practicing the piano…
